NEWS UPDATE: Due to security concerns beyond the control of Mitsubishi and its Dakar Rally team, the 2008 Dakar Rally has been cancelled. Click here for more information.

From January 5 - January 20, 2008, Mitsubishi will attempt to do what no other car company has done before - win an eighth consecutive Dakar Rally in a row. Of course winning seven in a row had never been done before either.

You're looking at what just might be the toughest vehicle ever built. You don't win a 5,569-mile race that starts in Europe and ends in Africa any other way. And Mitsubishi has done it twelve times in all - another record. So while we have done our share of celebrating in the past, right now our eyes are on the prize.

The testing and development that goes into our rally vehicles finds its way onto the street too. Every one of our vehicles has more than a few strands of this competition-prepared Montero Evolution's winning DNA. And it pays dividends every day, whether you're driving across Africa or across town.

Check back here daily for links to updates from the rally. And be sure to check back after January 20th for the final 2008 positions and the entire story.
