High performance demands high-quality safety. A rigid platform; an advanced anti-lock braking system; an advanced airbag system… they all come together in a sure-footed, nimble vehicle built to stoke driving passions and satisfy your security needs.
Eclipse's six-airbag safety system includes advanced front SRS airbags†, front-seat-mounted side-impact airbags and side-curtain airbags for front seat occupants. All are standard and and each is positioned based on extensive crash testing and simulation to deliver enhanced safety.
The ABS technology used by the Eclipse helps to eliminate wheel lock-up during panic or emergency braking. Wheel speed is monitored and braking pressure is optimized when impending wheel lock-up is sensed. The system “pulses” the brakes up to 10 times per second, modulating wheel rotation to help maximize driver control.
The Eclipse platform is reinforced in key locations using high-strength steel – as are the side sills and front and rear frame components, helping minimize deformation due to an offset front impact. Additional cross members in the dash area, cabin floor and roof help maintain cabin rigidity in the event of a side collision.
Standard on all Eclipse models, Active Stability Control (ASC)† monitors traction between the tires and the road. Working with the ABS system and engine management to regulate power delivery to the front wheels, it helps keep Eclipse on the driver's intended path in challenging driving conditions.
With lower anchors in the rear seat, Eclipse helps simplify the attachment of child safety seats, making it easier for you to help buckle in your child and keep him or her safe. Mitsubishi engineering explores every way to send you on the road with full confidence in your security.
Every Mitsubishi is equipped with three-point seatbelts , head restraints, and seatbelt force limiters that help the front seatbelts and airbags† work together seamlessly. As an additional safety measure, front seatbelt pretensioners are designed to help tighten the belts in certain frontal impacts.
