Safety
2008 Endeavor
We built the Endeavor around a concept we like to call active safety*. Active safety affects the ways your vehicle can help you to avoid an accident. A unibody platform, a flex-resistant chassis with reinforced steel door beams, energy-absorbing crumple zones, and many more safety features make the Endeavor’s active safety systems one of your best friends.
Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control
Standard for Endeavor, the Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control System (M-ASTC) helps you maintain traction on wet roads, while turning a corner too sharply or in other challenging driving conditions. Multiple sensors constantly monitor available wheel traction and alert the M-ASTC control unit, which works with the vehicle's anti-lock brake system to insure optimal traction by applying any of the brakes as required to help you stay on course. You can travel in confidence no matter where you want your Endeavor to take you.
Advanced Airbag System
Endeavor comes standard with advanced dual-stage front airbags† and front and rear curtain airbags† for all trim levels.
Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
The ABS technology used by the Endeavor helps to eliminate wheel lock-up during panic or emergency braking. Wheel speed is monitored and braking pressure is optimized when impending wheel lock-up is sensed. The system “pulses” the brakes up to 10 times per second, modulating wheel rotation to help eliminate lock-up and maximize driver control.
Five-Star Crash Rating
Endeavor offers the added peace of mind that comes along with knowing that it earned a five-star crash rating for both front and rear passenger side-impact safety and for frontal impact for the driver based on tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).**
LATCH System
Lower anchors and tethers for children (LATCH) help simplify the attachment of child safety seats; making it easier for you to help keep your child safe.
Seatbelts and Pretensioners
Every Mitsubishi is equipped with a three-point seatbelt and head restraints, plus front seatbelt pretensioners that are designed to help tighten the belts in certain frontal impacts so the seatbelts can better do their job. Seatbelt force limiters that help the front seatbelts and airbags† work together optimally, are also standard on every Endeavor.
*Safety is a two-way street. It requires your attention and cooperation. Please remember to fasten your safety belt, sit well back in your seat and remain upright, properly adjust your head restraint, drive responsibly and obey all traffic laws.

**Five Star Ratings are part of the US Department of Transportation's SaferCar program (www.safercar.gov). Model tested with standard side air bags.

†Airbags are part of a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). To decrease the risk of injury from a deploying airbag, always wear your seatbelt, sit upright in the middle of the seat and do not lean against the door. Always place children 12 and under in the rear seat and use appropriate child restraints. Never place a rear-facing infant restraint in the front seat. See your Owner's Manual and instructions provided with your child restraint for additional information.
