2008 Lancer Evolution
When you've won as many World Rally Championships as Mitsubishi has, and put world-class vehicles through what we've put them through, you know what is needed for a winning platform. And once you've got the right platform, there's still the matter of outfitting it to optimize active safety. Then, of course, there's added passive safety systems that complement the overall package and make Lancer Evolution safer for high-performance driving.
Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
The Lancer Evolution features a state-of-the-art Brembo® braking system. In front, the stopping power comes from 13.8-inch ventilated discs with massive four-piston calipers. At the rear, 13.0-inch ventilated discs and two-piston calipers handle braking chores. Adding to the effectiveness of the ventilated rotors and calipers is the latest in Mitsubishi Sports ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) technology, which offers equal pressure at all four brake calipers under hard braking.
Active Center Differential
The revolutionary Active Center Differential continuously optimizes torque delivery to the wheels that have the most traction front to rear during cornering, with optimization settings for tarmac, gravel and snow while AYC (Active Yaw Control) optimizes torque delivery left to right on the rear axle.
LATCH System
Lancer Evolution comes with lower anchors and tethers for child-seat installation, child safety locks and a trunk entrapment release. Lower anchors and tethers for child-seat installation greatly simplify child safety-seat installation and help protect children by keeping child seats more secure in vehicles.
Tough Unibody Chassis
Lancer Evolution starts with a tough unibody chassis that's inherently strong, with incredible rigidity and structural integrity. This ultra-high-performance sedan is equipped with one of the strongest, most torsionally rigid unibody structures possible.
Dual Front Airbags
Comes standard with 7 airbags†: dual-stage front airbags with front passenger occupant sensors; front seat-mounted, side-impact airbags; side curtain airbags, and a driver's knee airbag.
*Safety is a two-way street. It requires your attention and cooperation. Please remember to fasten your safety belt, drive responsibly and obey all traffic laws.

†Airbags are part of a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). To decrease the risk of injury from a deploying airbag, always wear your seatbelt, sit upright in the middle of the seat and do not lean against the door. Always place children 12 and under in the rear seat and use appropriate child restraints. Never place a rear-facing infant restraint in the front seat. See your Owner's Manual and instructions provided with your child restraint for additional information.
