Safety and Warranty

2012 Outlander

In addition to some of the best warranties in the business, the 2012 Outlander is equipped with world-class safety features that have been refined over decades of research and development.

Six Airbag System
Outlander offers standard advanced dual-stage front SRS airbags*, driver and passenger side-impact airbags*, and front and rear side-curtain airbags* on all Outlander models. Sensors evaluate the deceleration during an impact, the position of the driver's seat, and the weight on the front passenger's seat to provide the appropriate level of front airbag* deployment.
Active Stability Control (ASC)
ASC (Active Stability Control) is a system that is designed to help maintain and control the lateral movement of the vehicle during difficult driving conditions. It uses sensors that check your speed, and how Outlander is responding to your steering input. Bottom line? ASC simplifies vehicle maneuvers for the driver by applying braking pressure to the wheel that is slipping and, if necessary, cutting down the engine throttle to help you maintain control.
Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
The ABS technology used by Outlander helps to eliminate wheel lock-up during panic or emergency braking. Wheel speed is monitored and braking pressure is optimized when impending wheel lock-up is sensed. The system “pulses” the brakes up to 10 times per second, modulating wheel rotation to help eliminate lock-up and maximize driver control.
RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) Body
The reinforced impact safety evolution body RISE enhances the passengers protection performance. In the event of a collision, efficient energy absorption and high cabin integrity are important. RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body) achieves these features and enhances its collision safety performance from all directions, including front, side, and rear collisions.
LATCH System
Lower anchors and tethers for children (LATCH) help simplify the attachment of child safety seats; making it easier for you to help keep your child safe.
Seatbelts and Pretensioners
Every Mitsubishi is equipped with three-point seatbelts and head restraints, plus front seatbelt pretensioners that are designed to help tighten the belts in certain impacts so the seatbelts can better do their job. Seatbelt force limiters, which help the front seatbelts and airbags* work together optimally, are also standard on every Outlander.
