Six-Airbag System

Outlander offers standard advanced dual-stage front SRS airbags, driver and passenger side-impact airbags, and front and rear side-curtain airbags on all Outlander models.* Sensors evaluate the deceleration during an impact, the position of the driver's seat and the weight on the front passenger's seat to provide the appropriate level of front airbag deployment.

Active Stability Control

The Active Stability Control (ASC)† system is designed to help maintain and control the lateral movement of the Outlander during difficult driving conditions. It uses sensors to check your speed and measure how the vehicle is responding to your steering input. The bottom line? ASC simplifies vehicle maneuvers for the driver by applying braking pressure to the wheel that is slipping and, if necessary, cutting down the engine throttle to help you maintain control of your vehicle.

Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution

The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)† technology used by Outlander helps eliminate wheel lock-up during panic or emergency braking. Wheel speed is monitored and braking pressure is optimized when impending wheel lock-up is sensed. The system “pulses” the brakes, modulating wheel rotation to help eliminate lock-up and maximize driver control.

RISE Body Construction

The RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body construction greatly enhances protection for all passengers. In the event of a collision, efficient energy absorption and high cabin integrity are crucial. The RISE body delivers both to help keep you protected in front, side and rear collisions.

LATCH System

The Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) system helps simplify the attachment of child safety seats, making it easier for you to help keep your child safe.

Seat Belts and Pretensioners

Every Mitsubishi is equipped with three-point seat belts and head restraints, plus front seat belt pretensioners that are designed to help tighten the belts in certain frontal impacts so the seat belts can better do their job. Seat belt force limiters, which help the front seat belts and airbags* work together optimally, are also standard on every Outlander.
