Twin Electric Motors and Super All-Wheel Control

The Outlander PHEV uses full-time, high-output twin electric motors separately mounted at the front and rear axles to instantly supply torque on demand for incredibly responsive performance with agile all-wheel drive. The Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system on the Outlander PHEV was developed specifically for its unique twin electric motor configuration for maximum performance, efficiency, traction and safety. S-AWC optimally manages the Active Yaw Control (AYC), Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control (TCL), to bring out the full potential of Twin Electric Motors.

Instant Acceleration

The Twin Electric Motor system automatically bypasses the gas-powered engine in EV mode, providing immediate torque for instant acceleration. And zero emissions come as a bonus.
